Time is Money - Make More of It

Introduction

Time is money. That’s an old saying and a truism. Have you ever looked at successful people? Notice how truly successful people always seem to have time to:

Take vacations

Play golf

Go sailing

Exercise

Make a lot of money

Enjoy their life

It is no accident. They have simply learned how to manage their time. They are no different from you; you can do it too.

Do you look at them with envy? Well no more. Learn to manage your time; start making more money and enjoying your life. Learn how to have time to take pleasure in every area of your life.

"In order to go beyond where you’ve ever been, you;’ll need to change what you do with time."

Time management is an art form

You are not born with organized or disorganized genes. How you manage your time is a learned skill. Sloppy skills keep you running in circles and frustrated. Efficient skills let you live life on your terms.

Learn to master the clock rather than the other way round.

You’ll need to:

Set priorities

Place a value on each type of activity

Find the most beneficial ways to spend your time

Reaching your goals or not reaching your goals is a direct result of how you invest your time.

Time Management Skills Assessment

Answer the following question’s A = seldom, C = often. There is no B. You have to make a decision.

Question

Answer A or C

Do you procrastinate?

Do you Attempt too much at one time?

Do you allow or invite distractions?

Do you take back what you have delegated?

Do you refuse to say No? No is a complete sentence.

Do you fake listening to others?

Do you trust your memory?

Do you worry?

Are your activities impromptu?

Do you have notes on scraps of paper?

Do you handle paper more than once?

Look for the A’s. The A’s are positive skills. C answers show you areas to work on.

Do Things Differently

Create awareness of your world by changing patterns. Do things in different order. Make the first thing you do in the morning the second thing.

Take time for breakfast. Park further away from entrances and walk. Put on a different shoe first. These things will jolt you into awareness; as you plan your daily activities you’ll be more conscious of yourself in time and space.

You’ll come to know your peak times; the time when you function best. You must know this to manage your time.

Six Ways to Find More Time:

1. Record TV shows. Don’t let other people’s schedule run your life.

2. Finish projects even if you have to lock yourself away. Enlist the help of your family and when you’re done, spend quality time with them.

3. If an appointment cancels, use that time productively.

4. Schedule more than one appointment a day; That way, if someone cancels, it’s an inconvenience not a catastrophe.

5. Stand up when you’re on the phone. You’ll talk less.

6. Learn to prospect a little every day. Do the little stuff and the big stuff will take care of itself.

People Make More Money Who:

Plan for exercise

Plan for meditation

Plan and write goals

Catagorize Activities

Learn to catagorize your activities as A  B & C.

A activities are the highest priority. They are the things that bring you closer to your goal.
A activities can only be done by you; they cannot be delegated.

B activities are important. They could be delegated but will require very close supervision and are probably best done by you.

C activities can and should be delegated of hired out. Successful people do not skimp on hiring help for C activities.

Find Your Peak Time

When are you at your best? If possible, schedule A activities during your peak time

R F T

You will save hours with this one technique: Learn to handle each piece of paper once.

Every time you shuffle paper you are wasting valuable time. When you receive any piece of paper.

R F T it.

R Read it

F File it

T Throw it away

Summary

"Successful people do the things that unsuccessful people won’t."
